Review: I'd seen photos, but from the moment I walked into Casa Heuer the first time, I knew I was in for a fabulous, restful vacation. As I arrived, two concierges were there to meet me--one of the gentlemen carried my luggage and gave me a tour of the condo, while the other whipped up fresh guacamole and asked if I'd like a margarita. Guess what my answer was!
That first night, I took myself to dinner at Pitahayas, in the Sheraton just 3 minutes down the road in my rental car. Dinner was lovely but I couldn't wait to get back to Casa Heuer and indulge in a hot tub with a book and a bottle of wine. Paradise! I've never slept so well in my life.
Every morning, I woke up to birds singing on the balcony, and even saw a Xantus' Hummingbird--they're only in Baha!--checking out the gorgeous potted plants. Once I spotted whales playing in the ocean, and they entertained me as I sipped coffee and munched on fresh mangoes. (The shopping is done for you, if you choose. Everything you want for groceries can be in the fridge when you get there--all you do is order ahead!)
Guests visiting me at Casa Heuer couldn't believe their eyes. Even the neighbors in the same building came over and said they liked this unit better.
Every day it was so hard to choose between strolling the beach or lying out by the infinity pool...ahh, vacation! The location is perfect because it's just a quick 15-minute drive into Cabo San Lucas to the west and 25 minutes to San Jose del Cabo to the east. One more hour gets you to the must-see artists' community and surfer's beach at Todos Santos (northwest of CSL) or to awesome SCUBA and snorkeling at Cabo Pulmo (northeast of San Jose).
Anything you could possibly want is available to you at Casa Heuer. You can have a massage and other spa treatments right in the condo. You can ask the concierge to book you a tour on a fishing boat, or racing ATVs through the arroyos. There's a book at the condo with all the info you need, and Jim Heuer's restaurant recommendations are spot-on. Try them all!
Finally I can't leave out how great it was to have wireless access--I sent pictures to family and friends every day, and looked up road maps online for my excursions--and to have both local phone and Vonage phone so that you can call anyone in Mexico or the U.S.
Now I'm trying to get my whole family to meet me in Cabo, because with three bedrooms, there is room for everyone--and three bathrooms so everyone can get ready at the same time. There's a washer and dryer, too, so you don't have to bring your entire wardrobe, and you won't have a pile of laundry when you get home.
As far as I'm concerned, Casa Heuer sets the standard for vacation rentals--I'm completely spoiled now!
